Self-assessment test for nicotine dependency

Please answer the following questions as a guide as to the level of dependency that you may have developed. Please be aware that smoking even small amounts can be harmful to health and test results should not be used as a substitute for clinical advice.

Notes

  • Intended for guidance only. Smoking patterns can vary and if your score is low you may still find it difficult to stop.
  • Questions are based on the ‘Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence’.

Advice for Families and loved ones

It may be hard for families to accept that smoking is a very hard habit to break, as many people perceive it to be a matter of choice. In fact, nicotine use can be just as difficult to stop as any other drug that is associated with serious addiction. For this reason, we welcome enquiries from families and loved ones, which we handle with complete discretion.
