Biljana Kennaway
Spec. Physiotherapist Sports & Pelvic Health
Biljana began her journey in physiotherapy after obtaining a BSc from the University of London in 2002. Since qualifying, she has gained extensive experience across nearly all areas of physiotherapy at the Imperial College Hospitals in London, including sports and orthopaedics, musculoskeletal, women’s and men’s health (pelvic health), paediatrics, neurology, plastics and burns, HIV, oncology, cardio-thoracic, and respiratory specialties. She expanded her expertise further in Geneva and now Zurich, and was awarded an MSc in Physiotherapy, Advanced Clinical Practice from Brunel University in London. Additionally, she has been a Master Trainer and presenter in clinical Pilates since 2016.
Currently, she specialises in pelvic health, sports, and spinal injury rehabilitation, focusing on both acute and chronic presentations. She treats a diverse range of patients, from recreational athletes to professional performers. Her holistic approach emphasises understanding the entire body, rather than focusing solely on symptoms. Treatments can range from simple breathing exercises to manual therapies, sports coaching, and biopsychosocial methods. She also uses ultrasound to assess abdominal wall and pelvic health functions and carefully observes clients' movement patterns to evaluate factors affecting optimal performance.
In addition to her clinical work, she serves as an honorary lecturer at universities in both Switzerland and the UK. She is a Master Trainer for the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), training physiotherapists on integrating Pilates into rehabilitation and recovery programs. As a dedicated follower of scientific advancements in physiotherapy, she was appointed Assistant Editor of the Journal of Pelvic, Obstetrics, and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) in 2018, keeping her at the forefront of research in her field.
In addition to clinical physiotherapy, she offers Pilates, personal training, HIIT sessions, and guidance on returning to functional, performing, and sporting activities at all levels.
